Dedication to Ben (the poem queen is at it again LOL)

yeah, I even do this in the offseason... although I could have lived without this particular "inspiration".... thought I'd share with y'all! :-)

On one regular day in the middle of June
Something terrible happened just before noon

On his way to practice like many times before
An ordinary trip it would be no more

Ben was on his motorcycle - helmet-less no doubt
Something he was always adamant about

You're not invincible - except maybe on the field
Look what happens when a car fails to yield

The scene of the crash was a horrible ugly sight
We all prayed for you as day turned into night

And not just Steeler fans but people around the nation
Glued to their TVs and computers for just a little information

Time went by and we watched and we waited
Outside the hospital some local fans even tailgated

You had luck on your side that day - that goes without saying
Helped out a little by a whole lot of praying

When you come back is something only time will tell
All that really matters, Ben, is that you get well

Having you back for the season - sure nothing would be greater
But worry about your health now - football can come later

You're just getting started and look what you have done
You've helped make the last 2 years as Steelers fans fun

We're going to support our team no matter what
Steeler Nation loves you Ben - but

Next time around - if and when
You ever decide to ride a bike again

Put on that helmet - that is the moral of this rhyme
We want you around for a long, long time!

(and not just as a Steeler! Alive :-)
