Default Big Bens thumb broke AGAIN???

mixed reports on if it his old thumb injury "flaring up" or whether he broke it again during Bungles game. Right thumb on throwing hand.

good news is the steelers win the SB anytime ben breaks his thumb or we have a new punter or rookie long snapper. we're 2 for 3.

return of the bionic glove?

Ben on whether a broken thumb will affect his status Nov. 27 in KC: “Absolutely not. I’d play this week.”

Ben Roethlisberger broke his right thumb last Sunday, but the Steelers quarterback said he will won't miss any games because of the injury.

"It will be painful but it takes a lot to keep me out," said Roethlisberger, who is wearing a velcro wrap to protect the thumb. "We'll concoct a splint. I'll have a glove on for the rest of the year."

The Steelers have a bye this week, giving Roethlisberger extra time to heal. When asked if his latest injury will affect his status for the Steelers' Nov. 27 game in Kansas City, Roethlisberger said, "Absolutely not. I'd play this week."

Roethlisberger broke his right thumb in 2005 didn't miss any games because of the injury. He sustained the same injury while leading the Steelers to a 24-17 win at Cincinnati last Sunday.

Roethlisberger didn't miss any playing time, and he completed 21 of 33 passes for 245 yards and a touchdown.

"It must have been something on the ground or I caught it on the ground but I don't remember hitting in on a helmet," Roethlisberger said.

It's not the athletes that are the drama queens, it's the fan's insatiable need for "news" 24/7.

This nugget from 2005 during the last time Ben's thumb was broken

This is not the first time Roethlisberger has had a similar issue with his right thumb, and it irritated former coach Bill Cowher when he was asked about it.

It first came to light in 2005 and there were public issues about it over the next two seasons.

The first known injury occurred Nov. 28 during a game in Indianapolis and Cowher continued to list his quarterback as probable, and he continued to play.

However, during a Cowher press conference Dec. 13, the coach showed his obvious frustration at the continued questions about Roethlisberger's thumb.

"Talk to him,'' Cowher told a reporter who asked about the quarterback. "I'm not going to talk about it, so don't ask me questions. You can talk to him.''
