Default Honeymoon Help

Hey, from the UK and as I am a Steelers fan i would love to catch a game in Heinz field. Anyway as a teacher our holidays dont exactly fall in the right times so was planning a short quick visit to steeler country, only chances are a week in end of october or over christmas time to catch a game, will only be for about 4 days! anyway any advice or tips? Price wise? how easy is it to get to Pittsburgh flying wise, chances of getting tickets?

Thanks

Great to hear you are thinking of visiting Pittsburgh and Heinz Field - If you are planning to go to the last game of the season against the Rams on 12/24 at 1 p.m. I'm sure a lot of people here would have some good suggestions for you

I grew up about 45 minutes north of Pittsburgh (now live in greater Baltimore, MD area) and only about a half hour from Pittsburgh international airport.

You would have about a 20 mile/half hour drive east from the airport to Heinz Field / North Shore area of Pittsburgh. Anytime I would drive downtown I would always find a place to park my car and just walk everywhere but that is your choice. I'm sure you could get a rental car or shuttle reservations pretty easily but wouldn't wait too much longer to get everything set up.

I can't attest to airline ticket prices but can suggest some hotels on the north shore and right in downtown (although you'd have a longer distance to walk to the game, but it is a nice way to check out the rest of the city - plus walking across the bridges to get to the Stadium is a Steelers fan tradition)

Regarding game tickets, I haven't checked lately but you might want to look at NFL Ticket Exchange by Ticketmaster online - the holiday home game tickets tend to be cheaper (and of course depending on where you sit) as some season ticket holders are with their families (or with their families at the game lol!) Sitting in the 100 section can be a bit tricky - sit too close and you might not get a good view of the field. Check for rows A-Z in the 500 section, around the 40-to-50 yard line - just make sure your 500 level tickets aren't more than the club level or 200 level - if they are you are getting ripped off. The club section is the best, but you are going to pay even more

This is a nice site to get a perspective of the field from every section in the stadium:

Are you planning anything else in/around Pittsburgh if you went? Do you have family there you are visiting?

If you can make it to the game, give yourself a few extra hours beforehand if possible to take in the tailgating experience, some good food like Primanti Bros sandwiches and Quaker Steak wings the stadium has to offer and to check out some historical Steelers memorabilia

I haven't done Pittsburgh night life in a while so I can't attest to that but all you need to do is walk up to enough Steelers fans and ask and they'll happily tell you where you need to go to have a good time and share a few laughs and drinks with other Stillers fan

Hope that helps a little bit and hope you get a chance to see our Steelers in person - it is quite the experience
