I agree. Two years? That might be longer than the average NFL player's career in the league. I would like to see half a season across the board on first offense then go up from there. I also don't think there should be wording like 4th or 5th offense in there because how many chances should one get?

I know that is absurd! Regular working men get maybe 1 chance, second time gone.

There would have to be some pretty bad repeat offenders to get banished for 2 years I would imagine. Atleast you have the right to appeal, but you better be damn sure you've doctors and trainers notes saying its ok to take this pill or that pill.

Having never done sports outside of hihgh school, could someone please educate us on sports trainers? My assumtion is as an athlete of normal ability, you practice and hope all goes well. If not you hurt something. Then you go in and see the trainer. The trainer/team physician then suggest treatment. You then do the treatment with suggested medicine no questions asked? How accurate is this?

Thats the way its supposed to happen..but sometimes players will follow the advice of their family doctor or friends, who arent as well versed in what drugs have illegal substances in them and which ones dont. so then they get caught.. just like the panthers players last season that got nailed.
if you follow your trainers and team physician, they have a list of what all is in the medicines they are prescribing and what is legal and safe and what isnt.. then if something happens, it falls back to the team for not educating their players enough. |
