Default one of your senators doesn't live in your state!!

http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/06146/693291-192.stm

We know that politics can make strange bedfellows, but who would've thought it would get as strange as Senator Rick Santorum?

At issue is the location of Rick's bed ? that is, where does he live? You would naturally assume that this Republican senator from Pennsylvania lives somewhere in the Keystone State, and indeed, Santorum lists a house in the burg of Penn Hills as his home. However, when the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette sent a routine letter to the senator's home address, it came back marked by the Post Office as: "Not Deliverable As Addressed."

Why? Simple: Rick doesn't actually live there. The house is vacant ? no bed, no kitchen table, no curtains, no Santorums.

Instead, Rick, his wife, and their six kiddos are ensconced in the family's real home in faraway Leesburg, Virginia. Perhaps he sometimes visits Penn Hills, but the fact is that Santorum does not sleep, eat, raise kids, or otherwise live in the house or town he officially claims as his home ? nor, for that matter, does the senator from Pennsylvania even live in the state he claims to represent.

Bizarrely, when this embarrassing reality surfaced, Rick responded not with an explanation, but an accusation. He nastily attacked his Democratic opponent in this year's senatorial race, charging that the Democrat had sent operatives to trespass on the family's property. This charge turns out not to be true, but nonetheless, Santorum wailed that such trespassing "put our six young children at a serious safety risk."

Wow, Rick has completely redefined "political absurdity." First, there was no trespassing by the Democrat's campaign and, second, the senator's kids could only have been at risk if they were actually there ? which they weren't, since, of course, they live in Virginia, as does mom... and dad.

Gee, never heard anything like that before.

Hillary Clinton in New York, Jeb Bush is Florida, Kennedy in Rhode Island, etc.

BTW I'm voting for Santorum. There is no way I'd give my vote to Casey, who is a product of his father and I dread that thought.

It was an analogy for the fedeal deficit--and Santorum went on to vote for trillions of dollars in deficit spending.
We had a really similar thing happen out here in WA. One of the crown jewels of the Repblican conquest in the 94 midterm elections was unseating Dick Foley, the incumbent Speaker of the House. Not only did his party lose the majority, he got voted out of his Spokane congressional seat.

The man who beat him was named George Nethercutt. The keystone of his campaign was term limits. Nethercutt had been vocal about his opposition the the idea of term limits and had even been in some legal battles to determine is a term limit initiative was constitutional in our state (if I remember correctly). Nethercutt campaigned almost entirely on the issue of term limits and pledged he would serve just two terms. He struck a chord during the Contract with America times and was elected, upending an incumbent Speaker for the first time in over a century.

Well, those two terms seemed to go by awful quickly. When the 2 term was up, George stated that he had learned that having some political experience was actually beneficial and that he had changed his mind about term limits. Suddenly he was using all the same arguments that he'd try to crucify Foley with just 4 years earlier. He served 5 terms before moving across the state to Seattle in a losing attempt to win a Senate seat in the last election.

Too early? So you would rather have a crook stay there? Glad you aren't old enough to vote.

Well, the direct words of the GOP State Chairperson were, "...Regarding Santorum, I know some of you may want to just hold your noses, but please vote for him anyway!"

Me being a conservative Democrat, I've been against Santorum from the beginning; he has voted the line on every single issue. I can respect Arlen Spector; he votes on the merits of the issues. Even if I disagree with him, I know he's thought about the issue rather than how toeing the party line can help him (as Santorum does).

I would think that it would be easier for Santorum to live near DC if he worked in DC. I mean I think the commute from da 'burgh to DC is a bit of a long time. I'm not bein political I don't know nothin about politics but it's tough to ever be clean and perfect in the world of politics.
