I'm now 2-1...the Steelers just raped me 33-11. Bettis rushed for 125 yards. Roethlisberger threw for 2 td's and 1 int. Carson threw for 1 td and 3 int's...Chad and TJ combined for 3 catches and 8 yards. Absolutely ugly.

I played about 4 games, and simmed the rest. That game takes up too much time

On Madden 06 in franchise you can sign players to contracts do scouting and a draft. Also somewhat of a training camp and make your own plays as well as play or sim your team or the whole season. Whats the diff between the two?

The sign players is basically the same, just a different look. You actually have to call the players' agents and negotiate a deal...there isn't that little meter that tells you if the guy will accept. The scouting in Head Coach is just a little more in depth, you get a number range (overall rating) for each prospect and the number range becomes smaller as you recruit the prospect. The training camp is a lot different. You have non-contact drills that you run each week...1v1 WRvDB, 1v1 RBvLB, pass skeleton, 1v1 OLvDL, running drills, etc. and when you run these drills, your players progress a little bit but not in a definite +3, +2, +1 way like in Madden. In Head Coach when you create plays, you have total control, you can position players, assign blocking, change routes, etc. Also in Head Coach, you run drills and contact practices each week.

There are way too many "load screens" while playing this game.

The load screens will be a picture of a coach and a quote from him or another well known coach in NFL history. Some of them are pretty ironic... one is a picture of Holmgren with the quote "A winner never whines" from Paul Brown of all people. Another one is "So what if we won ugly" from Bill Cowher, just to name a couple.
