PITTSBURGH -- Ben Roethlisberger doesn't feel slighted and doesn't feel snubbed after founding out that he didn't win the Steelers' Most Valuable Player award.

"Absolutely not. No. Not at all," he said. "I'm happy for Antonio. It's an awesome honor for him."

Antonio Brown, a second-year wide receiver/kick returner, was chosen as the team MVP after a team vote Thursday morning.

Roethlisberger, an eighth-year pro who's the highest-paid player in franchise history, has been named the Steelers MVP just once. That was in 2009 when he set several team records including most passing yards in a season (4,328) and in a game (503).

"Obviously, they're awesome honors," he said of the team MVP award. "But you know me. I'm not one for awards. I just try to do the best for my team."

Roethlisberger, who already has three Super Bowl appearances, has been selected to this year's Pro Bowl team. He joins New England's Tom Brady and San Diego's Philip Rivers as the AFC quarterbacks.

Roethlisberger ranks seventh in the NFL with a 91.5 passer rating.

Antonio deserved it. The Steelers players seem to be voting by the statistics, and Brown's the teams best when it comes to that.

I'm interested to know how you know the steelers "seem to be voting by statistics"
Where did you get this info
What "statistics" were they using as a criteria?

Well, in '09 we had a bad season, and Ben had his BEST season. He was voted team MVP, even though I believe we won a Super Bowl in '08. Correct me if i'm wrong about this.

As for Brown, he's the Steelers all-time leader in total yards in a season this year, with 2,000+.

It just seems that for the last few years, the Steeler players within the locker room have been making the MVP votes based on who's putting up the biggest numbers. Not that it's a bad thing, or that it even matters. The biggest award at the end of the day is a ring on the finger.

Didn't mean to aggravate you, or sound like I was being pissy about it. Brown deserves MVP just as much as Ben does. He's made his fair share of HUGE third down conversions.
