Default Steelers not resigning Holmes...

I remember some people thought it was the end of the world.

Looks like it was a really smart move after all

yeah, he seems to be a locker room cancer. I read he was escorted from the Jets locker-room.

I remember thinking it was a bad idea when it happened.

The issue was never about him being traded or not being signed, it was compensation for a Super Bowl MVP. I wish they could have gotten a 2nd rounder not a 5th.

If they could have gotten a 2nd for him they would have.

At this point it was a great deal, not only is he obviously givin up on his team, but we may have never drafted antonio brown who I believe is just as good already and not a problem for our team.

self-indulgence breeds nuthin but more self-indulgence.
Holmes,...., just like Burress, ..., and unfortunately, so many other good players, continually prove, that thay fall into their own dream-world of god-like status, and the only thing they are REALLY concerned about is "padding their own stats" instead of just playing TEAM football. !!!
Steelers, thank gawd thus far, are for TEAM only, which DUH, still makes us the "real" SUPERSTARS of the Rings to this day.
oh wait, except for tv-*****s like Deion Sanders, but then again, he got what he really wanted too, Imaginary stardom behind a silver/lcd-screen.

Ohhhhh My, My, how Santonio has fell from the graces of Steeler faithful, not me. First off Santonio was never meant to go to the Jets, he was meant for the Steelers, now I truly belive that Tomlin is the right one to keep Santonio grounded, after all he went through and has steered Ben in the right direction. Now seriously, the Steelers were seriously considering re-signing Plaxico, seriously. Correct me if I'm wrong didn't Plaxico go to jail? Has Santonio went to jail? I understand he was released for character isuues, doesn't Burress have character issues, once again I have to ask Plaxico left because he wanted more money, didn't he? Holmes left because he got shipped out of town, Re-sign Plax , screw Santonio, ummm correct me if I'm wrong, didn't Santonio make possibly the greatest catch in SB history? I say bring him in, Wallace, Brown, Santonio and Sanders, it can't possibly be any better, give Santonio a chance!

You make some good points, and let's face it--none of us are without our problems.

However, I've got to disagree with resigning Holmes. He's still a great talent and I do remember and appreciate what he's done for this team. I just think he would do more harm than good. We've already got a great WR group.

"...didn't Santonio make possibly the greatest..."

Yes, but NO !,
Actually, Harrison made the greatest "Return" in SB history, and of course for an SB TD !.
In my books, that was the greatest memorable feat.
AND, of course, Harrison still wanted to be here, and that trumps' "vanity", anyday bud.

Santonio would never let his ego go long long enough to be the third receiver. And Wallace and Brown are the future of the Steelers receivers. I like what we have here without Holmes.
