(Well I''ll celebrate the departure of Airhead the passing Nazi by posting a few articles. Because of the Airhead I almost gotten to the point of not caring very much any more. - mesa)

Steelers likely to play abroad within a year or two

PITTSBURGH -- So far, nine different teams have played in the NFL's International Series in London. That means the Steelers could be playing abroad soon.

And because team chairman emeritus Dan Rooney is the U.S. ambassador to Ireland, there's speculation that the Steelers could be playing in Dublin

"That's a possibility, although from what I understand, probably not 2012 as far as Ireland is concerned," Steelers president Art Rooney II said.

That's because Notre Dame is playing a game against Navy in Ireland this year.

"We may not want to piggy-back on top of that game," Rooney II said. "If it's going to be Ireland, it will more likely be 2013."

So far, the Bears, Patriots, Dolphins, Giants, Saints, Chargers, 49ers, Broncos and Buccaneers (twice) have played regular-season games in London's Wembley Stadium over the past five years.

In the fall, the NFL passed a resolution to have two regular-season international games per season. The NFL will announce which teams play abroad in April.

When the Steelers do get selected to play abroad, it would stand as one of their eight away games. Their lease with Heinz Field states they must play all eight of their home games at their North Shore venue.

The Steelers have played five preseason games on foreign soil over the years -- 1990 in Montreal; 1993 in Barcelona, Spain; 1996 in Tokyo; 1997 in Dublin; and 2000 in Mexico City.

Just another step in his plan to ruin the league. This is such a dumb idea. Screw the fans here in the US and send a game over there where they really don't care for football. What a retard roger is.

Well I sure understand your point but at the same time, I'll be among the first to book a ticket from Germany. It is a wee bit shorter than going all the way to Heinz.. And yes, Steeler Nation is over here as well..
