in the spirit of this thread, "stickied" should be itallicized or in bold.

not only was it sad to see barbaro not make it after such a good fight, i also didnt want to see this thread die in infamy. i was hoping for many more jokes and stories of recovery, and plenty of happy fillies and horse owners. i hope they got a cup full before he passed.

I agree completely, it is sad.

At the same time, if you turn on ESPN they make it sound like we lost a President today.

I think some complete loons in this country (Not saying you by any means Tony or you SCM) feel worse when an animal dies than when a human being dies.

Local news stations: Teenager was hit by a car (killed) by a "man" who was under the influence of crack and alcohol, Barbaro get's more air-time. This country and many of the idiots inside of it may need to check their priorities. It's embarrassing and pathetic really.

The last statement has some fact to it.

It is not a matter of anyone being a "loon" by mourning the loss of any life. Because many feel sadness over the death of a simple "Animal" (as you put it). Does not mean however that they hold human life in any less regard. Or are lacking in respect to their priorities.

The very gift of existence itself is worthy to be respected on any level. (At least in the eyes of those whom truly,.........have their 'priorities' where they should be)

I think the context of his post was a news release were just as much or more time was spent on a horse's death then on a child's death at the hands of another humans stupid actions. On that note, I agree, we do need balance.

However, let me give my condolences to those who took care of, and owned the horse. I also know what it is like to have and love animals.

A very sad ending for a beautiful animal and those that owned and cared for him. I truly had hoped they'd be able to save him.

barbaro is still dead.

...and none of their players were arrested today.

r.i.p. barbaro. may you finish 6 1/2 lengths ahead of all the others in your race through the pearly gates.
