Ugh, this guy needs to go away.
An 18 game season isn't safe, it will make every NFL record obsolete in no time, star players will have their careers cut short, it's just a horrible idea.

And while I doubt it, who is to say there isn't such a thing as too much football? Baseball sucks for a reason - it never ends.

I hate this idea. If it ain't broke, don't fix it! That about sums it up!
It's already nerve racking going through a 16 game season worrying about people getting injured.

If people really wanted more football, there would be competitive leagues. Or, if he's serious about more games and more teams, add an entire 'B' league to the NFL that plays in the Spring and Summer. I'm sure the union would sign off on it, and fans in mid-sized cities would adore it.

Nah, let's just kill our existing players. Rule #1 of contemporary economics: do the opposite of what the union wants, no matter what. Put the people making all of your money in their place.

Ya, Godell is trying to change it into some kind-of stock market option.
Football is a gladitorial "SPORT" of champions', first and foremost, you maniac(Godell), and then it is a business, ..., or whatever.
Of course, that's in a perfect world without Godell.
As much as I Iove footbal(NFL) and Hockey, there is mothing better than seeing a lot more football and hockey, and a lot less of baseball, basketball... :)
However, I much prefer "Quality" of the game, over "Quantity" of the game.

The one thing that is true, is the fact that the Footbal "protectionist" Rules actually make the game much "safer" to play than in the past.
Therefore, 18, or even more games is very possible without affecting players' abilities'.
However, and again, does that sacrifice an ever-lessening "Quality" to the game. ?!
That's what I'm afraid of.

This is why Goodell can't be taken seriously on being concerned about player safety. I agree with him that people want to see more football but at the same time, I'd rather see two less games if it meant that we had the hard hits that were allowed in the past. Goodell isn't credible at all when he talks like this.
