If my "calcluations" are correct we are under that cap limit by $6 million after Ward's release. There is definitely still room to improve if Farrior or Foote are released. Along with Aaron Smith, or Casey Hampton, or Kemeatu(I dont feel like looking up the spelling)... But finally I can look forward to the draft lol.

#Steelers money numbers: Total subtracted: $34.41M; Total added: $10.822M (including ERFA and projected RFA tenders) Total: -$23.588M so the steelers were around 21 mil over the cap. since nobody knows what the new cap number will be (and since many are expecting it to be the same as last year) it looks like we're around 2.5-3 mil under (at this point)

or it may be less then last year because of the lost revenue from the lockout. our front office has done a horrible job finacially and i cant see how so many people love Omar Kahn. he got our team in a big hole and its going to be really hard to keep players like Brown, Hood and Pouncey because of this

Cap is going to sky rocket in 2014 by 25-30million due to TV contracts. Steelers will be sitting pretty there. The larger contracts cycle through and so on.
the contracts they will sign the draft picks to now will be 4 plus years securing them at managebale numbers through 2016. The cycle will continue. Due to having success with Wallace and Brown they had 3 year deals, sort of in a good way screwed them in having to sign these both quicker. Perhaps they will learn and do things differently, OR maybe redo the deals before hand. Hoods value isn't going to sky rocket due to how the Steelers play the 3-4. These guys are corks in the bottle, not like the way the Texans play with their blitz packages. So Hoods value dimensihes per say as his out put isn't sacks etc. |

People who keep saying Khan doesn't know what he is doing crack me up. They know exactly what they are doing. You want to say they are mortgaging the future for the present. I say they are getting us under the cap with a lot of finesse and are working with the knowledge that the cap increase in two years is going to make what they are doing now work out perfect. I am no expert on the cap and how restructuring these contracts affects the future but what they are doing now makes perfect sense to me. I am sure they have a much clearer idea on how to handle these situations than any of us message board junkies do. How else would they stay in business and field a very competetive team year after year after year? The ownership in cities like Oakland, Washington, Miami, Minnesota, Jacksonville, Dallas etc. are the ones who have no clue what they are doing.

man, you think we have problems......over at the Packers and Saints teams, they're in a whole heap of trouble. Its time finally to pay the pied piper and start "showing" the money. Brees is putting a real hurtin' on N.O. right now.
We've got it fairly easy right now compared to some teams. |
