Default A Look Ahead to the AFC North

finally a national media writer gets it right. vic carucci of nfl.com breaks down whats gonna help and whats gonna hurt each team.

http://nfl.com/news/story/9559770

THE EARLY READ

The Steelers still appear to be the team to beat in this division, as well as the AFC ? and maybe the whole league.

They have a chance to be stronger than the team that had to battle its way from a sixth seed to win Super Bowl XL. But it will take Roethlisberger putting his accident behind him and being able to make improvement, and require a new star to emerge at running back.

McNair, a stronger running game and defensive upgrades could make the Ravens a contender.

If the Bengals have to start the season without Palmer and Thurman, they could find themselves in a hole from which they could have a hard time escaping.

The Browns' aggressive free-agent shopping and sound drafting should make them a better team, but it is hard to tell how much better they will be in a fairly tough division. The enormous gap they had to close with the Steelers appears smaller, but the distance between the teams is still significant.

Couldn't agree with this more. I'm looking for big play from the D since this will be the 3rd consecutive year under Lebeau.

I don't mind when a writer has a negative opinion about the Steelers as long as they understand who is on the roster. But when they all regurgitage each others material I just shake my head.

But "Solid trio" and "Kendall Simmons being pushed by Chris Kemoeatu"? This is a guy who does his homework.

Or at least consults Steelers Fever Forum before issuing an opinion.

If the "Solid trio" can hold up their end of the deal Hartings should be snapping the pigskin on national TV in February.

I think Kemoeatu will be the starter by the end of the season

Man, I hope Chris Kemoeatu pushes Kendall out of the spot, cause he had alot of false starts last year, and from what i've heard, Chris is a monster

pretty good read overall... but i'm wondering why he assumes that staley is in front position for the starting rb position?

Quote:
Pittsburgh: Staley will have to stay healthy and fend off challenges from Parker and Haynes to win the starting job at running back. Kendall Simmons will be pushed by Chris Kemoeatu at right offensive guard.

I've been big on thought of Kemoeatu taking over for Simmons. He's a road grader with a mean streak a mile long. I think his presence on the field would very beneficial for us,.... seeing as how the Bungals, Clowns and Ratbirds have all "Beefed Up" somewhat up front with the additions of Sam Adams, Ted Wasington and Haloti Ngata respectively. Everybody in the league is gunning for us now,..... and we'll get everybody's A-game. I think it's important that we have the players on the field with power and aggressivness to face any adversity and maintain our philosophy and style of play.
