Default Our plans for the Home Opener

Hey everyone, these are my plans for the day leading up to the Opener. If there is anything i am missing on doing, please let me know what it is.

1. Driving from Canada, leaving at 11:00 pm, getting to the Hotel at 4am, and sleeping till 9.

2. Driving to a mall, to purchase some souveniers that i can;t get in Canada.

3. Going to get a wonderful sandwich ay Primani's ,,, Good times.

'Picking up beer, get it on ice. Take some pics of PNC. Head to the tail gate at about 5.
Is this too late to get there, what time does parking lot open at?? Any special pittsburgh things i am missing????

Well, there's a few things I'd do differently.

1 - Leave earlier if possible (maybe 9 or 10pm).
2 - While down at Primani's, do some shopping down in the strip district. You can get some good stuff down there (but if you want licensed gear - hit the mall).
3 - Do you know that if you put beer in ice water it takes (I hope I remember this right) approximately 4 1/2 minutes to get to it's coldest possible temperature (I was told this by a guy that did vending during spring training).
4 - Get to the tail gate earlier than 5. It's going to be crazy in Da 'Burgh Thursday so you definitely want to get settled into parking and setup in time to enjoy it!

That all sounds good, it actually doesnlt matter what time we leave Canada at? I need some sleep, when we left here at 3 am for the superbowl in The Burgh, i was pissed and ready for bed by 9. I want to last the whole night. We are not parking at the tailgate, we will be walking around, with a pull cooler woth our booze. What time should we head there at??

I'm not exactly sure what part of Canada you are from so I wouldn't know what time you should leave.

Normally we start up the tailgate about four hours before kickoff and head inside the stadium about a 1/2 hour before kickoff.

You stated you are not parking in the area where you plan on tailgating. Where do you plan on parking? If you plan on parking in a parking garage, they will definately be open. The majority of parking garages are open 24/7.

I posted this in another thread. Maybe this can help you decide where you want to park......

Also, depending on how much time you have while in the Burgh, I suggest hitting up the Senator John Heinz Pittsburgh Regional History Center (whole section of local sports history in the area, a must see.)

1212 Smallman Street (Strip District) About a five minute drive from Heinz Field.
Pittsburgh, PA 15222

instead of travelling to the mall go over to Station Square and hit the shops where you will find Hometown Sports for all the licenced gear a person can ask for...

Lots open up 5 hours before game time. Be there then!

Primanti Bros like you said is a must. If you don't want to go down to the Strip District, you can always get 1 at the game in Heinz. Take a bunch of pics. And check out PNC Park.

And take a ride on the incline!
