Default Haley Praises Ben

This from Ed. B. of the P-G

Todd Haley spoke for about 13 minutes to us today and said he believes the offense is off to a good start in training camp....

He said the players appear to have learned the new offense, and that he feels confident with Ben Roethlisberger running it. “I’ve heard people say it’s a quarterback league and in 16, 17 years coaching I really believe that . . . Ben is in that group of top guys, he’s proven that from day one in the NFL.

Ben handling that snap makes it fun for us offensive coaches . . . We feel good about our start.”

Art Rooney said early in the year that he would like to see Roethlisberger sacked fewer times and perhaps even scale back the scrambling.

But Haley said “I haven’t had any of those talks with the organization. I’m just really excited about working with Ben. We’re off to a real good start. If you have a guy who is a proven winner, who knows how to move the football up and down the field and get everybody in place, that’s a huge asset. Just like everybody else, we’re going to play to his strengths but at the same time do things to give him the best chance to succeed.”

Haley then cut short his remarks because he needed to go visit Ben in order to bake s'mores and sign Kumbaya

No, this can't be! They absolutely despise each other and have a terrible history going all the way back to March or April when they wouldn't even talk to each other. This must have been wrote in error....

I've been very confused with the media this offseason. Everything that has happened with the Steelers has been dissected and overanalyzed. The "experts" say there's too much change and that the Steelers will take a step back. Okay, maybe it happens.

Then you have all the hype surrounding teams like the Ravens and Eagles. The "experts" seem to be dismissing the loss of Suggs. In their minds, an inconsistent QB with a questionable o-line will win shootouts for the Ravens every week and offset the loss of the DPOY. Riiiiiight........

And with the Eagles - oh boy! The ultimate paper champions! That Vick sure helps the "experts" out in their fantasy leagues! And that Eagles defense will be great under the guidance of the Juan Castillo..... you know the former o-line coach (remember he's a year wiser, so he now rivals Lebeau with his knowledge!)

I agree: it's odd...
...unless (as I predict) NFL FIlms is merely setting up its SuperBowl video: "They were a team amid a whirlwind of change (shot of Hines Ward retiring) & in-fighting (a shot of an angry Haley staring at BB)... they were improbable champions... and yet, they were.  The 2012 Pittsburgh Steelers... SuperBowl XLVII winners... "The Improbable Champions.""

Oh, and Joe Flacco is the BEST QB in the league.  He's so good, he can play OLB.  So, the Ravens shall always "get a pass" (as long as he helms that ship).

Haley may have praised Ben in the papers, but he really wanted to do this:
