Default Settling for 3...

You are not going to beat Peyton at his house settling for ZERO off a fumble recovery gift then settling for 3 multiple times. The league is now built for TDs not field goals.

They work those 3 pointers into TDs the game wouldn't have been as close as it was.

Told my father going into the half - should have been 17-7 at least.

These kind of things can change the complexion of a game. I am not worried though, i think we are going to be fine. That was a very tough game to open up a season with....

Agree! That is why I did not make a game prediction in the game tread post. I did not have a very good feeling about this game. Denver had all the right recipe going into last night to beat the Steelers. And I thought the Steelers would lose. But, they WILL bounce back. no doubt!

Cundiff kicks four FG's against the Saints and the final score 40-32. FGs do make a difference. No coach wants to settle for FGs when a TD is a possibility but most coaches will take the points. We did the exact same thing offensively last night as we did last year. We relied on Ben's ability to extend plays and/or bail out a mediocre run game on numerous third downs. He missed a wide open Heath and threw a costly touchdown late. Actually the int. likely made no difference since our defense could not stop Peyton most of the game anyway. I do not care if we run, run, run, or pass, pass, pass, as long as we score more than the other guy. If that means kicking 5 FGs and winning 15-14 my thoughts are Great!. But what I hated last night was putting Ben in numerous and often times obvious passing downs on third down after diving two times for little to no yards. That kind of runs are not productive, I would of rather seen a bubble screen. We did last night what I hoped we would at least try to change, penalties at the worst times, mental mistakes, easy plays missed or botched, and a costly turnover. Haley has his hands full and Tomlin needs to make him, the other coaches, and the players accountable for making these same stupid errors.

No doubt FG's matter. What I am saying is there is a big difference going into half at 17-7 vs. 13-7. You can play with more confidence and can catch the other team pressing which leads to mistakes etc. to extend the lead even greater...

I believe the game would be more exciting if a field goal inside the redzone were only 2 points.

That would set the fire under their asses to score score score.

A novel idea, and I for one like it. Make safeties 3 points instead of 2 since it should reward the defense more for great plays. Hey I got no problem awarding extra points for FGs of 40 yards or more make them 3 and over fifty make them 4. Goodell is changing the game anyway.
