Default Thoughts on Haley after week 2?

Anyone liking this new offense? One of the biggest differences between last year is it seems that Haley is trying to get everyone involved in the offense, it's no longer just the Mike Wallace and AB show.

Tight ends and running backs are being used more in the passing game, which I like a lot. Receivers are all given a chance to shine, I like how Sanders has been getting a large share of reps. Running backs all the way down the depth chart to Batch have been getting a lot of playing time, gives me more confidence that someone's game ready to step up if we have any more injuries.

Chris Rainey looks a little tentative to me, but I'm sure with more real game experience, he will be a playmaker in this offense. It's good they're not trying to rush him in at the moment.

Commitment to the running game WILL pay off in the long run. The players don't have the offense totally down yet (as shown by a few wasted timeouts to get set), but as weeks go by and they get more familiar with the schemes, it will only get better. In the jets game it already paid off as the jets defense started to tire, they couldn't stop our running game.

Anyone think Sanders can have a big season? He's already a great route runner with a really good speed burst. He's getting his chance to shine, and IMO, it's just a matter of time before he has a few breakout games (granted he stays healthy).

It's a little too soon to form a full opinion, but I like the direction this ship is heading.

Tomlin is ticked off that there still is no running game, but that last drive on Sunday might indicate that also is coming around

I like the quick passes, using Heath (who of course now gets injured) , and that Ben appears more willing to not try to save every play by running around for 15 seconds until either a receiver breaks open or Ben gets clobbered

One problem (which Ben said contributed to the pick six in Denver when he admitted he should have called a timeout) is that the preseason problem of getting the nexy play in on time continues

I am going to cop out, and say "Too soon to tell."

Here is what I like:

Getting a bevy of receivers involved... including the RBs.

Heath. More heat. He had a great rookie season, and I'd like to see it eclipsed.

Running forward (as opposed to having to use reveresed and/or trick plays).

Well designed screens. (the execution is lacking)

Did I mention Heath?

The O-line is starting to gel.

Check downs by BB.

BB getting better in the red-zone (3 of 4 this past weekend)

Heath.

immediate upgrade upon hiring

now after 2 games, I believe we are starting to see an offense that is truly "all hands on deck" and if they feel there is a play or a player they can use to their advantage, they are going to try it - i.e. Will Johnson - someone that might just continue to impress

- as the season goes on, ideally, their arsenal will grow and they can exploit the opposing D by either pass or run. Just by week 2 alone, Ben already looks more like a pocket passer, while still having the ability to be himself

As for those that are waiting to see Haley and Ben go at it - keep waiting - its not going to happen anytime soon, if at all IMHO. Don't underestimate Haley's new found passion in working for an organization that is closer to his heart than most think . . .I believe Pittsburgh and Haley together will equate to at least 1 more SB for Ben.

There are still a lot of games to be played, so I'll stop the love-fest there. If we keep seeing new ways for this O to help us win, I have no doubt we'll be there contending at the end this season. Can you imagine if they keep progressing at this pace? Phew.

if we could get our Oline kicking some ass in the running game to where we don't have 3rd long every time, this Offense would be beastly

Too Early to tell, but I really like what he has going. Some little issues, but that's to be expected. It's only been two games.

As most have stated it's a little early yet, but I like the direction they are moving in. It seems to have finally sunk in with Ben that he needs to stay healthy and take what the D gives him sometimes (no doubt through having an OC with a functioning brain guiding him). He even throws it away now sometimes!

I like the short passing game and involvement of a variety of receivers. It's long overdue that Heath returns as a prominent piece of the passing game. I also like the use of the RBs in the passing game and the proper use of personnel on bubble screens that have been a bane to this team for a few years.

The commitment to the run game is nice to see too (even if it hasn't been working so great yet). You need to keep the defense honest and sooner or later it will pay off. Maybe when Mendy and DeCastro return we will see a difference.

1-1 with a "true" fullback, jury still deliberating.
