I've been away from Da Burgh for almost 20 years now, but back in the '70s and '80s it was common to see Steelers players around town.
The one that I'll never forget was in Shadyside once, it was the early '80s. I was pushing my cart through the grocery store. I went from one aisle to the other, and I wasn't paying attention (looking for a particular brand of something) and as I pushed my cart I pushed it into another cart... owned by Franco Harris. I lookede up, recognized him but didn't say anything; I nodded and said, "Oops, excuse me", and he smiled and nodded back, and we went our separate ways. Not much of an encounter, I'm not one for pestering guys or acting up. But it was cool, like the way it's supposed to be. Tom |

Mosca, that was pretty strong of you to hold back like that. Yet at the same time I can totally understand your point.

One of my best friends lives in Cranberry and he always tells me how people see the Steelers out, he saw Max Starks at a restaurant and his brother met Faneca at Chic Filet...

I like in Latrobe and used to work at St. Vincent College, so I have had plenty of run ins. I've seen Plaxico buying Pop-Tarts at Wal*Mart, many different players out at Eat n Park, and I once handed Bettis an ice cream scoop in the cafeteria at SVC. They are out and about everywhere during camp.

I've seen a few, I don't bother them though. They are only human. I can understand little kids going up to them, but I tend to let them be and not bother them.
