Huge to get Woodley back. He may be the most important of them ALL right now. We have the offensive weapons, it's the pressure from our defensive 1st level that's the problem.

Woodley will help in that category tremendously, especially with 92 on the opposite side. Lets see if we can last ONE QRT without injury (cross's fingers.)

Steelers right tackle Marcus Gilbert could miss up to two months with a right ankle injury suffered during last week’s loss to Tennessee, according to teammate Maurkice Pouncey.

“He’s going to miss a significant amount of time, maybe up to six weeks,” said Pouney, who is dealing with a knee injury that might keep him out of Sunday’s game against Cincinnati. “I don’t think it’s anything that is season-ending, but we’ve got to give him time to heal and get his body right.”

Gilbert, who has been wearing a protective boot on his right foot, flew to Charlotte, N.C., Monday to consult a specialist.

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said Tuesday that Gilbert has a tendon injury in his ankle that does not require surgery.

Rookie second-round pick Mike Adams will start in place of Gilbert.

Looks like Miller will back to helping chip rushers on the line again. At least Adams usually only gets beat around the outside so with a TE chipping the outside shoulder we shoukd be fine there. BTW, do we have any depth left in the Oline with Gilbert and Pouncey down? Who is after Starks, Legs, Foster, Adams and Colon?

Seven players didn’t practice on Wednesday, including LB Chris Carter (hamstring), T Marcus Gilbert (ankle), RB Rashard Mendenhall (achilles), S Troy Polamalu (calf), C Maurkice Pouncey (knee), RB Isaac Redman (ankle), and LB Lawrence Timmons (foot).
In addition LB Brandon Johnson (hamstring) was limited in practice.

Troy gone for months with a torn calf muscle?


Torn calf muscle keeps Polamalu on sidelines


Troy Polamalu won’t play Sunday in Cincinnati. He probably won’t play next week or the week after that, not with a torn calf muscle that has turned his right leg a hideous shade of purple and red.

But the reason he’s hurting isn’t just because of an injury that usually takes up to six weeks to heal. It’s because the Steelers (2-3) need him badly after losing each of their first three road games, and he won’t be out there Sunday night in Cincinnati to help a struggling defense.

“That’s why they (NFL teams) pay the more talented players big money, to keep them on field,” Polamalu said Wednesday. “Obviously, you want your starters and your more experienced players out there.”

The best-case scenario for Polamalu’s return, according to teammates, is the second half of the season. He wishes he could return last week.

Sounds like Troy will miss both Ravens games - of course that will be important only if the season is still afloat by then

Seasons are snakebitten for some teams while others (Falcons and Seahawks this season) have seasons where they pull out wins from what appear to be sure losses - in a parity driven league a lot of success turns on luck
