The injuries keep piling up at an incredible, almost record rate. This even goes back to last year. It's getting so bad, i'm afraid someone will just walk out on the field next week and fall down with a broken ankle or a torn ACL.
Other teams suffer injuries - but nothing like this. Something is starting to stink. Are our players being trained and worked out correctly? Are their post-workout treatments being done correctly or not 'up-to-par'? I don't like what i'm seeing. I know injuries happen. But not like this. Is and should our training staff be under the microscope?? |

I mean, I know that injuries are inevitable, but why is it that we always seem to have far more starters on crutches than any other team or even any past Steeler team? For Three decades, we had exactly Three Centers. Yet in the last two seasons, we've had to rotate three different players in and out of the Center position alone and that doesn't even begin to address the Chinese Fire Drill we've had at Tackle and Guard. It can't all be accidental or because of bad technique and I really wonder if the trainers know what they're doing. |

Don't see how this strength/conditioning staff can't be looked at, and looked at very hard, by the uppers in our organization. |

Said it earlier on another post. These guys should be fired. The let the premadonna player dictate what they do and when.
I stated earlier, Troy does not stretch, he jokes around, plays catch prior to the game. Who is accountable? Apparently no one, but Tomlinwill take responsibility of course. Comforting. |

problem is, as an OL you are usually engaged with a defender and don't even see the person who ends up rolling into your planted leg...

How do you stop players from getting hurt when someone rolls up on their leg?
As far as strains and pulls, who is hurt? Woodley and Troy? Is that an abnormally high number? |

With muscle injuries you need to look at the training staff as far as game prep. as for joint injuries or bones, those things happen. Although I do think part of the problem these days is the reliance on heavy weight training. The body's tendons and ligaments is not equipped to handle the the increased muscle size and pressure put on them by the weight training done these days or the "supplementation" that goes along with that.
It's not just pro sports or pro football either, all sport at most all levels from high school forward are experiencing the same thing. |

All I know is that in the forty years I've followed this team, I cannot remember a time during which we have had so many injuries to so many lineman as I've seen in the last few seasons. Whether that's got something to do with the training staff or conditioning or technique -- or whether it's just a really big coincidence is anyone's guess. But you have to admit that the injury situation is pretty strange when you look at it historically. Put another way, these last few seasons are the first time I can remember where when I refer to a player on the O-line I feel as if I have to add: "This week" after mentioning his name. |
