Obama's Katrina
20,000 people stranded in Hoboken, New Jersey Tempers flared Wednesday at a staging area outside City Hall, where a man screamed at emergency officials about why food and water had not been delivered to residents just a few blocks away. The man, who would not give his name, said he blew up an air mattress to float over to a staging area. City officials defended their response. "The dimension and scope of this situation is enormous," Public Safety Director Jon Tooke said. "You have emergency operations at all levels — from local to federal — spread too thin across the city and the state, but we're working on it." Tooke said the estimated 20,000 people still stranded in their homes were being encouraged to shelter in place, and that high-water vehicles would get supplies to them. He said people with medical and other special needs were being taken out by trucks. http://www.ksdk.com/news/article/345...ded-in-Hoboken |

Storm Response Earns Obama Praise Amid the Election’s Deadlock Drama A majority of likely voters see President Obama's response to Hurricane Sandy in a positive light, according to a new poll. The ABC News/Washington Post poll, which conducted interviews about the storm on Tuesday before being released on Wednesday, found 78 percent of likely voters viewed Obama's response positively, while just 8 percent viewed his response negatively. http://thehill.com/blogs/ballot-box/...ponse-to-sandy But nice try |

If it was Obama's Katrina, NY and NJ would still be waiting for a call from FEMA asking if anything got wet.

Will New York build $6 BILLION sea barriers to shield itself from another Superstorm Sandy? The vast destruction wreaked by the storm surge in New York could have been prevented with a sea barrier of the type that protects major cities in Europe, some scientists and engineers say. The multibillion-dollar price tag of such a project has been a hindrance, but may appear more palatable after the damage from Superstorm Sandy has been tallied. 'The time has come. The city is finally going to have to face this,' said oceanography professor Malcolm J. Bowman at Long Island’s Stony Brook University. ....

Exasperation builds on Day 3 in storm-stricken NYC ![]() NEW YORK (AP) - Frustration - and in some cases fear - mounted in New York City on Thursday, three days after Superstorm Sandy. Traffic backed up for miles at bridges, large crowds waited impatiently for buses into Manhattan, and tempers flared in gas lines. Mayor Michael Bloomberg said the city would send bottled water and ready-to-eat meals into the hardest-hit neighborhoods through the weekend, but some New Yorkers grew dispirited after days without power, water and heat and decided to get out. "It's dirty, and it's getting a little crazy down there," said Michael Tomeo, who boarded a bus to Philadelphia with his 4-year-old son. "It just feels like you wouldn't want to be out at night. Everything's pitch dark. I'm tired of it, big-time." Rima Finzi-Strauss decided to take bus to Washington. When the power went out Monday night in her apartment building on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, it also disabled the electric locks on the front door, she said. http://apnews.excite.com/article/201...DA29GGPO1.html |

Sandy Turns into Obama’s Katrina
Chaos ensues amidst recovery efforts in New York City. On Thursday, frustration and panic is rising three days after Super storm Sandy struck. Traffic jams are blocking bridges, large crowds wait for buses into Manhattan and rage is reigning supreme at gas stations. Pretty soon New Yorkers may start chanting, “Bring Back Rudy” Giuliani. Recovery efforts are starting to resemble Hurricane Katrina recovery efforts in New Orleans. Perhaps, President Barack Obama is not looking so presidential after all. http://www.dallasblog.com/2012110110...s-katrina.html -------------- ‘We Need Food, We Need Clothing’: Staten Island Residents Plead for Help 3 Days After Sandy The residents of Staten Island are pleading for help from elected officials, begging for gasoline, food and clothing three days after Sandy slammed the New York City borough. “We’re going to die! We’re going to freeze! We got 90-year-old people!” Donna Solli told visiting officials. “You don’t understand. You gotta get your trucks down here on the corner now. It’s been three days!” Staten Island was one of the hardest-hit communities in New York City. More than 80,000 residents are still without power. Many are homeless, and at least 19 people died on Staten Island because of the storm. ![]() http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/headline...s-after-sandy/ ---------------- Obama don't care about white people suffering |
