NFL wants to talk with Steelers' wideout

THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
Updated: 10/31/2012

PITTSBURGH - Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders says he's going to meet with NFL officials to discuss his fourth-quarter leg cramp in a victory over the Cincinnati Bengals earlier this month.

Sanders maintains he did nothing wrong when he suddenly dropped to the ground with the Steelers nursing a seven-point lead. Officials stopped play after Sanders laid down on the turf and television announcers suggested the third-year receiver was faking it so Pittsburgh could avoid using a timeout.

Sanders sat out one play, taking in a small amount of fluids while team doctors massaged his calf, before returning. He says the cramp was sudden but disappeared quickly after receiving medical attention. He says he's not sure when he'll meet with officials, but the Steelers will be in New York this weekend to face the Giants.

I remember it happening, I never focused on it though so as far as I know - at best, he actually was in pain briefly - at worst he was faking it and it is a little gamesmanship - who the eff cares?

Good lord - seriously NFL - the time you spend on this guy over something trivial is less time you spend on player safety - which is all important, right?

Anything to justify their salaries I guess

It looked to me like he was faking, but it'll be hard to prove. I remember the NFL talked to a couple of giants defenders after a similar incident of week 2 last year, but nothing came of it. If he was faking, it was a douchey move.

Why waste the time speculating on the subject.
How would they know if he was faking it or not!

I believe it was a play Ben got banged up and if Sanders did not go down and Ben did he'd have to sit out a play. it looked like Sanders took one for Ben.
