It's been a long time, but...I'm breaking out the Tommy Maddox jersey tonight

Normally I wear my black Lambert or white Polamalu, but in the spirit of back-up quarterbacks I'm dusting off ol' #8 tonight, purchased during the semi-memorable 2002 season. Yes, Tommy Gun had his fair share of missteps, but I feel the jersey has relevance to tonight's game. Trying to show support for Lefty here people! What do you think of the choice?

This is a fantastic idea. I have a Kordell Jersey from days of old (when I was skinnier too) I think my gang down here would get a kick out of me wearing a tight Kordell jersey. Now - once I get to the wings and pizza - I can't promise that I'll keep it on in the second half. If I'm doing my usually screaming and jumping up and down - it might tear. I may have to call in the fat clothes after a while.

The more I think about tonight's game - the more I hope Steeler Nation can rally around Byron, the o-line, and the running game and that Heinz field become a huge factor in getting a huge win.

I'll always have a softspot for Tommy-Gun. He was absolutely BRILLIANT in 2002 and took over a team in 2003 with a bad defense and offensive personal not built through the air.

That said, good idea. As long as its Black & Gold!

The first Steeler jersey I ever had was a youth XL Kordell jersey - in fact, he played a big role in my becoming a Steeler fan in the first place. Even if I still had that jersey, there's no way it would fit even a little bit.

Very good point about Heinz tonight. We need our crowd to raise its game (and the noise level) in Ben's absence. If we can control the clock with short passes and the run game, and then the crowd can repeatedly make it extremely difficult for Flacco and Co. to operate this is a game we can most definitely win. It's time to go.

Ironic post for me , BTW. The beginning of the week, my girlfriend subs as an Elementary School Teacher and had to go to bed early Monday Night.

The next morning, I was explaining to her the specifics of the game and the convo was funny once she had a brain-fart. It went something like this:


GF: So what's going on with the Ben injury?
Me: Well, they are actually saying it's life threatening.
GF: Ohmy, how, what happened?
Me: He got hit and when he hit the ground, he cracked his ribs and separated his shoulder.
GF: Oh jeez oh man, how is it life threatening?
Me: It's a rare injury, the first rib is cracked and it could puncture his lung causing internal bleeding.
Me: Figures all this happens right before Baltimore gets here.
GF: WELL! Tommy Maddox is going to do good!
Me: ..........
GF: ........
Me: ......
GF: I mean Leftwhi...
Me: SHUTTY.

YEP, and I've made GREAT STRIDES teachin her, brotherin. When Emmanuel Sanders ALMOST took that punt-return against the Giants to the house, she shocked me. In an absolute mad-house of going nuts, I look over to see my girlfriend standing on the couch and screaming "GO! GO!"

An excellent feat for her! She makes it even more fun for me, lol.
