definitely not garrard, he hasn't played since 2010. i can only assume that being out of action that long comes with a lot of rust even if you're in shape

Garrard was going to start the season for the Dolphins until he had to have knee surgery. He's supposedly cleared to play now.

Quote:
Garrard 'ready to go': CBSSports.com NFL Insider Jason La Canfora reports free agent quarterback David Garrard, who was in contention for the Dolphins' starting quarterback job before suffering a knee injury in the preseason, is healthy and cleared to work out for teams, according to his agent, Albert Irby. “He is ready to go,” Irby said.

Put Garrards resume against DMacs, now that's funny. I like Garrard but he's coming off an injury as well. I saw a lot of Johnson in the Philly preseason game my brother and I went to. IDK, he didn't show too much IMO

what... steve young, brett favre or kurt warner arent good enough for ya?

anyways, back to the land of reality.

former mcnabb back-up mike kafka is coming in for a visit.

All those guys are 43 and above, he's 35 cmon bruh! Kafka is an ex Eagle "back-up" for a reason, he was whack when it came to real time game action. I watched a lot of Eagles games being the only non Eagle fan in my family. Dude don't have it. I just don't want to see this season go to waste bringing in a scrub who can't run an NFL offense. Everyone saw what happened to Chicago last year going with Caleb Hanie, disaster and the GM's azz got fired.

How does this work with the cap, signing injury replacements in the middle of the year? Do they have to save cap room for this? Are they allowed to go over the cap for injury replacements? How much cap room is left?

I don't know how much cap room there is for signing, however, I would think anything would be pro-rated being this deep into the season. NFL channel says they're going work out Kafka (Career Stats: 107 passing yards, 0 tds, 2 ints, 47.7 passer rating) and Brian Hoyer (43 career pass attempts 27 completions and 1 TD, oh joy!) tomorrow. Are you kidding me??

your 1st assumption was correct. they have to save money for this. the steelers typically keep a million "in the salary cap bank" for emergencies such as this but not exactly sure how much they have as of now,

However, a player making vet minimum of aprox $900K at the beginning of the season, would only make half of that since the season is half over and their contract would not be guaranteed for the rest of the year.

oh and mcnabb may be 35 but plays like hes 53.

We'll have to agree to disagree on this one. I think he can come in and be a good back-up, far better than what they're talking about bringing in.
