Throwing your body at someones knees or lower legs is just plain ole pussified football. If a player can't handle their opponent, replace his ass or put him on someone else. Suggs didn't like it when Quinn got him and got fined so in what stage of retardedness do you have to be to do it to someone else.

i guess it really depends, but when I played football in HS, I did a lot of that. Of course I used to weigh 150 lbs and sometimes there'd be some big boys pulling on blocks that outweighed me by almost 100 lbs. Taking them head on would have been a suicide mission, I did whatever I could to stop the play from developing when I needed to, even if it was playing dirty. It was a legal play by suggs, it was within 5 yards of the line of scrimmage. If he did it out in the open field, then that's for sure a flag

I was lucky enough to only hit legs incidentally at ROLB - there weren't that many people that I couldn't simply run back into the blocker, or leverage around/under. Often when it came time to get at QB/RB - wrapping waist was good enough. If they were fast this could happen as they are trying to pry or juke away.

9/10 the guy who went for the legs got owned or was completely jumped over/missed picking up the blocker or was swiping at air a lot- this was a big no no on the teams I played on - you usually would get burned most of the time - unless of course, you were a professional.

Just proves even more that Goodell's motives are about liability and not player safety. There will be no law suits from a player who can't get out of bed or walk down the steps when they retire. Just the ones who can't remember anything from concussions.
He's protecting the shield.................from financial ruin when one of these lawsuits hits and he can say he did everything he could do to protect these players.
