yep - looks like we're gonna be playing the Rangers
I agree with you about the Rangers. Winnipeg's loss last night was a killer, even the fact they didn't record a point. They need to win their final game and hope the Rangers and/or Senators lose out to make the playoffs. Kind of a stretch if you ask me. Rangers have an easy schedule - at Carolina and vs. NJ - I believe.

I won't be as uptight if the Pens can improve themselves between now and next week + more of the injured players return. But yes I can see NY giving us fits if they are #8. Darn.

yeah - the fact is the Rangers have more depth of 'talent" than all the other teams left except Boston

they haven't played all that well yet, but I'd rather have missed them all the same

Thanks. Here's an update on the rest of the injured Penguins.

http://triblive.com/sports/penguins/...#axzz2RQdtbvrl

Looks like Martin could possibly play on Saturday, depending on how practice goes for him. I think Neal might return in the middle of the first round of the playoffs. As for Crosby, I would make a definitive bet right now he will miss the first round. It's not a good sign there has not been a "timetable" set for him practicing or returning. We all remember how that was the status when he was out with a concussion. And what happened? He never returned, even during the playoffs.

No news on Orpik... is no news considered "good news"? I sure hope so...

That's a pretty bold bet.

what a meaningless game tonight - try not to get hurt boys, that's all I ask

@pgshelly: #Penguins lines Iginla-Malkin-Dupuis, Morrow-Jokinen-Bennett, Kunitz-Sutter-Cooke, Adams-Glass-Kennedy (Jeffrey, MacIntyre)

Also, Neal not on a line and Martin doesn't seem to be in a regular pairing at #Penguins skate.

I heard that Martin and Neal have returned to full practice, but they will not play tonight. This is good news by the fact they are back to practice. The two could return for the playoffs, which is a great sign. I wouldn't bet that they play on Saturday either, though.

Crosby has been cleared to practice

Dave Molinari ‏@MolinariPG 36sPenguins C Sidney Crosby, who hasn't played since having his jaw broken March 30, received clearance today to practice with his teammates.

There still has been no decision on when Crosby might be able to resume playing, but there's no chance of that before the playoffs.

well, Malkin looked like shit again, couldn't hit the open net, move him to the 4th line - and Letang is horrible on defense again with the turnovers

blow a 2 goal lead and lose to the lowly Devils, way to build up them bad habits, Fleury was bad

From what ive seen in last nights game, it didnt look like the Pens played all that hard.
Maybe avoiding injuries? Who knows!. But i hope that kind of play isnt whats in store during the playoffs... In all fairness to Geno, he's prolly a bit rusty, gonna need some playing time.

well yeah, obvious drop-off in effort, scrimmage skating

Hits per game

Boston = 30
Montreal = 33
Ottawa = 33
Buffalo = 17
New Jersey = 15

but still, the last 2 games was everything I didn't want to see going into the playoffs.

A leaky Fleury and Bylsma's obsession with forcing Iginla to play LW on Malkin's line is like stabbing the team repeatedly with an icepick, it hurts.....he's tried it for a month and that line just does't work!

Realize it already!

Kunitz-Malkin-Neal
Duper-Sid-Iginla

It's that simple
