Default Flight Re-routed Due to Potential Terrorism

Just came across this article this morning. Scary times again, I'm not sure if the passengers help spoil the plot or not because their aren't many details yet, but when you think about it everytime we (the general public) board a filght we are basically, in a way, putting ourselves in the war especially when things like this happen.

By Sher Zieve – United Flight 923, which may have been a prime target in a foiled terrorist plot on 10 August, was diverted again on Wednesday. The flight was en route from London and scheduled to land at Dulles Airport in Washington D.C.

The plane was rerouted to Boston’s Logan Airport. Three passengers, described as “suspicious”, became involved in a confrontation with crew members. They are also said to have has “certain items” with them. Neither the items nor passengers have, as yet, been named. The pilot is said to have called an emergency.

Massachusetts State police are said to have taken control of the situation after the plane landed. No other information is presently available.

UPDATE 10:55:25 EDT: FNC reports that its source, Phil Orendella of Boston Airport, advised that a female passenger involved in the scuffle had a screw driver, Vaseline, matches and a "note referencing al-Qaeda". A US military jet fighter is said to have escorted the plane to Logan Airport.

I am sure many "have" to travel because of business but it is certainly nothing I want to do. When I flew into Pittsburgh for the wonderful Patriot beating on Halloween (sorry to all you Pathetic Pat fans), I said at that time it would have to be an emergency for me to fly again. The time spent going through my things, having to even take my shoes off and have them inspected, that is nothing I want to do. I have flown all over the United States for my job, but as of that trip, those days are over per me.

The federal security official said there was no indication of terrorism and denied reports that the woman had a screw driver, matches and a note referring to al-Qaeda.

The female passenger aboard United Flight 923 said she was claustrophobic and became very upset and got into some kind of confrontation with the flight crew, said George Naccara, federal security director for the Transportation Security Administration for Massachusetts' airport.

I'm going to be flying very soon and again in December. I refuse to allow these evil bastards to scare me into altering my plans or my life - that is exactly what they want and I'm not giving it to them. When the Big Man upstairs pulls my number, it's my time to say hasta la bye bye. I leave that decision in His hands, not in the hands of a terrorist.

Updated story click here

Quote:
Officials denied earlier media reports that the woman had been carrying a screwdriver and a note that made a reference to Al Qaeda. The T.S.A. confirmed this afternoon that the woman was carrying hand cream, which is prohibited under new carry-on rules, and matches.
Aslo, the article states that this was a 59 year old lady so I'm not to sure what she was capable of doing...

Maybe she was going to moisturize the cabin crew into submission.

You have to ask yourself some questions here.

1. Why would the note she was carrying make any mention of Al Qaeda?

2. Could she have been suffering from Alzheimers disease and her terrorist cell decided that she may forget why she was on the flight in the first place?

3. What was the screwdriver for?

4. Why were the early reports of the screwdriver and Al; Qaeda note then refuted by the Authorities?

5. Were the media 'tipped off' about the potential existence of these items?

6. Or did they just fabricate a story?

7. How disruptive were these people that they required re-routing to a different airport?

8. Were they such a security threat that they needed fighter plane escort?

9. Will, as I suspect, all this die down and the 'suspects' remain uncharged - so we can move onto the next 'terrorist' plot intended to keep us on the edge of our seats?

Major props HTG,

By giving into the hysteria regarding terrorist attacks you are already letting them win.

I'll wish you a safe flight both now and in december.
