I hope now that he has guys like Brown and Sanders to work with, with the possibility of DVD, he knows how to effectively use these guys and get our offense going in terms of better field position. Asking Roethlisberger or really, any Quarterback to go 80+ yards every drive and score is unrealistic and unfair. Let's hope Brown or DeMarcus are returning kickoffs / punts and can use their speed and elusiveness effectively to flip field position.

Those rankings tell me he is just as bad as Jones.

I'll give him a year to see how he pans out.

Not a new fan, been one since I was a young kid. Started with the Steelers in '66, before they had any prospects of being good.
That said, I live in the DC area and follow the Redskins closely too. They are my number 2 team. Smith is a bad hire. He's not a good coach but somehow the players and other coaches seem to always love the guy. He's a bubble gum chewing mediocre coach who will have an above average year just in time to save his job. They couldn't get off a field goal down here with any confidence until this year. Punt returns were just as bad. He can't seem to get the returners to run UP the field. They go to the sidelines and fall down. Overall, a bad hire. |

Yes, I really do believe Smith being a Pittsburgh native had something to do with him being hired because I really think that if it didnt, they would have hired a better coach. I actually dobthink our ST could get worse with this guy.
BUT until RG3 arrived the skins sucked, so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and say he had mediocre talent to work with.
