Hamstring injury frustrates Ward
Steelers' star WR will miss second consecutive game Friday, August 18, 2006 By Ed Bouchette, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Terrell Owens and Hines Ward share similar hamstring problems that have kept them out of training camp practices for long stretches this summer. Each hired his own people to try to work it back to health. Their disparity comes in the styles of the two celebrated NFL wide receivers. Ward has not been the one riding a stationary bicycle on the sideline during practice while wearing a bicycle helmet. "I'm not that person," said Ward, who will miss his second preseason game tomorrow because of the injury to his left leg. "I do all mine before I get out here. I'm not going to entertain you guys with that. I'm working out twice a day, doing the rehab, I come out early in the morning and before afternoon practice." Ward, the Super Bowl MVP, injured his hamstring two weeks ago at training camp in Latrobe. He never has missed this much practice time because of an injury in his previous eight NFL seasons. He missed only one game in his NFL career, and that came Oct. 16 when he did not play against Jacksonville because of a hamstring injury. He admitted to being frustrated but not worried about this injury. "The hamstring is just not cooperating. If anybody has any advice to give me or find a new hamstring for me, trust me I'm out there to take it." He's taking everything else slowly in order to be ready for the regular season. "I can't force the issue just to be out there in a preseason game that doesn't mean anything." Yet he went hard on his leg Monday and said that set him back to where the hamstring originally was injured. Yesterday, two men who have worked on fullback Dan Kreider drove in from York, Pa., to see if they could help with what is called active release treatment. "It's like acupuncture, but it's not acupuncture," Ward said. "It gets it going, responding to stuff. I feel better today after I saw them." http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/06230/714510-66.stm

And therein lies the difference between a Pittsburgh Steeler player and, well what ever you want to call T.O.

This is the reason why people amire him. He is the star reciever, but rather then draw attention to himself on the sidelines he gets his work done behind close doors and lets the spotline on the other guys.

Is it just me, or does he always seem to have issues with his hamstring during training camp? I know it happened last season as well. Just an observation...

could you imagine chad johnson if he had this hamstring? you know he would feel the irresistable urge to upstage t.o.
he would bring one of those giant adult sized rocking horses to the sideline and in full cowboy gear with his laso and spurs and make that bronco buck! im so glad we have hines instead of a circus clown.

The Cincinnati Bungles presents - the T.J. and C.J. show.... ![]() Hammy injuries aren't pleasant and seem to take forever to totally heal. (Like ribs - ughhh) Hines is the consummate professional and will do whatever it takes to get back on that field - he loves this team and the game too much to have it any other way.
