Where do you think some of the recent Steeler retirees rank in team history?

• Aaron Smith
• James Farrior
• Hines Ward

How do you think they stack up against the dynasty rosters?

(Am I forgetting anyone?)

I'd love to see a top 100 Steelers list, like the NFL Network does for the NFL. All three of these guys would be in IMO, maybe top 50.

Thats tough, we have a great history of players but just commenting on Aaron smith, Top 30 all tine with ease. (Talking about all the players in Pittsburgh, ever)

Look at our Dline since he has been gone..

Aaron Smith is the 2nd best 3-4 DL we had. I would put him behind Kimo.

Hines Ward is the best WR in Steelers history. take numbers, impact on the NFL, has 2 super bowls. Swann was more dynamic and graceful and Stallworth was mr clutch but I put Ward #1,

farrior is down on the list at ILB. here is how I do ILB:

1- Lambert
2- Nickerson
3- Chad Brown- if he stayed in Pitt would have been a hall of famer
4- Farrior
5- Kirkland

Hines @ # one?? I loved Hines, but I think this is honestly debatable on a number of different levels. Two things that Stalls and Swannie had over Hines was they carried a much larger target area. Hines however blocked better than any WR in the history of the NFL, and caught more balls than anyone in team history. Swan and Stallworth, played when passing was mostly the second option, but Hines played when everybody was expecting it. Interesting debate indeed.

Chad Brown was an outside linebacker. A dead giveaway is that ILB don't get 10+ sacks a season. Now you learned something today.

he was an ILB FIRST and played outside in 1996 when Greg Lloyd got hurt in game 1 of the season. you really know nothing about steelers football.

Aaron Smith was possible the best run stopping 3-4 defensive end too play. Not flashy on the stat sheet, but there are plenty that agree.

Hines is the best Steelers WR, and although Swann and Stallworth were great, the numbers don't lie. His post season numbers for a WR are also among the best of all time, and anybody watching in 2008 and 2010 wouldn't be surprised to learn that.

Farrior was an EXCELLENT run stopping MLB. In a sea of excellent Steeler LB's he is often overlooked or underrated, but it seemed like he was born to stop the run. He's not as dominant at his position as Smith or as "valuable" to the team as Ward was, but he was the QB of the defense in years where the defense was possibly the best ever to play (2008 specifically).
