You're crazy. JeMarcus had 9, 10, 13.5, and 11.5 sacks in the four seasons prior to this past year's hamstring-injury plagued 2012 season.

Harrison had 10 sacks and 5 forced fumbles the year after he won the award.

Suggs never should have gotten the award- Allen was robbed. In what universe does the player with 14 sacks havemore impact than the player with 22 sacks? 2nd best sack total all-time goes unrewarded.

Polamalu did have a bad year after winning and regardless of who should have won the award you are right... players have been playing poorly after winning it.

which is still a pretty good year. Difference with the NFL as opposed to other leagues is the physical toll it takes to play at the level of guys like harrison, Poloamalu, Woodson etc. To win DPOY they have to play with a certain amount of reckless abandon which is difficult to carry over year to year.
