No reason to deal with damaged goods when running backs are so readily available!

Steelers need a 300 a year carrying running back. Not a guy with 4 surgeries on the same foot.

Exactly. We get guys that make a flash for a game or two, earn a starting spot (because who the hell else has earned a starting spot at RB), and then shit the bed the very next game. I was really hoping that Dwyer could be consistent, but without the O line truly kicking ass, he struggled. I was most optimistic about John Clay coming into camp, but he never even made it to the preseason due to an ACL tear.

I should make this my sig until the draft:

Bell, Lattimore, Gillislee, Franklin, Randle, Ellington and Bernard.

Problem, meet solution.

So true, and so frustrating. For other teams, it seems to be the simplest position to fill. For us, it's been a long history of almost unbroken misfires in the draft. I'd rather pick up a proven veteran back via trade or free agency, or just stick with UFAs or low picks - because this year, we cannot waste our picks. Time and time again, we've proven that we really don't know what we're doing in this area.

Anyway, Redman and Dwyer are perfectly solid backs. They'll be looking better and better once we solve our problems with the OL and our general offensive schemes. More depth at RB would be nice, but this is nothing compared to our other holes.

We've already upgraded the position, improved team morale, sent a message regarding the expectations for work ethic and professionalism, reduced public embarrassment, and saved money on the cap. Now that's a top-notch front office move!
