Default Random Thoughts going into Draft

Well here it finally is the 2013 NFL Draft.

Who will be this year's David DeCastro for us?

Last year was certainly exciting seeing DeCastro continue to fall then knowing he would be ours. Not sure there is a guy this year like that realistically but with recent talk of CB Dee Milliner falling could he be the guy? Would be another miracle but DeCastro was considered one last year. Dee Milliner is my David DeCastro this year.

The Steelers must draft for the love of the game.

An early quote from Rashard Mendenhall stated that he had many more interests other then football and later he remarked how surprised he was at how serious we take football in Pittsburgh. Mendenhall had all the tools but he lacked that mindset that makes players great. We can't often read if a player has it or not from a draft report but the Steelers must find the guys who eat, drink, and sleep football and have a hunger to be the best. Too many guys on the team right now just satisfied to be in the NFL.

Will Todd Haley have a say?

If Haley does then expect a WR like Cordarelle Patterson or Justin Hunter to be the pick and they won't worry about them as Haley is the same guy who overdrafted Jonathan Baldwin of Pitt in the first when he was the Head Coach at KC. I hope also that they take another WR later as well.

I'm impressed with the WR depth in this year's draft. Maybe they should have let Emanual Sanders walk to get two of these guys.

Tavon Austin
Justin Hunter
Cordarrelle Patterson
Robert Woods
DeAndre Hopkins
Keenan Allen
Quinton Patton
Terrance Williams
Markus Wheaton
Steadman Bailey
Marquise Goodwin
Da'Rick Rogers
Aaron Dobson
Chris Harper

They must find a Running Back.

They don't have one. Redman had a golden opportunity last year with Mendenhall hurt and he made nothing of the chance. Dwyer taps out from exhaustion. Batch dropped a sure thing TD when he was wide open. I hope they take a Montee Ball, or Jonathan Franklin early.

QB Ryan Griffin, Tulane seems to be a great sleeper pick.

Has had more private workouts then any QB in the draft including with the Steelers.

With so many good Safety prospects which one will the Steelers end up with?

So many different kinds to choose from and so many different opinions.

Will Character Concerns scare the Steelers from drafting say a Alec Ogletree or a Tyrann Mathieu?

Both would be huge additions to the defense and both give you turnovers and big plays.

I'm sure many more thoughts will fill my head starting Thursday.

What are your concerns, hopes, and even dreams for this years draft?

I like the idea of taking a receiver in the first round. Ben is the greatest asset we have, and still with at least 3 or 4 more quality seasons in him; why not give him another weapon to go along with AB, Sanders and (hopefully) Heath? It has been clear that an effective passing attack is invaluable in today's NFL.

I pray for it to happen but fear it won't.

His stock is rising day by day, so it seems. Hopefully they're all smokescreens.

I'm also impressed with the depth at Wr but time has taught me that half the players on your list will never make it in the NFL and a few more will never be #1 WRs
