Default Massive "Freakout" Predicted If Healthcare Law Struck Down

I'm thinking the insurance industry would also collapse, like in a Wall Street-Black Monday style fashion.

WASHINGTON -- Experts have a pretty good sense of what will happen if the Supreme Court rules in favor of the plaintiffs in King v. Burwell, cutting off Obamacare’s tax credits in roughly two-thirds of the states. Without that financial assistance, most of the people now buying insurance through healthcare.gov, the online marketplace run by the federal government, wouldn’t be able to pay for their coverage anymore.

As long as it no longer burdens the nation's top earners...I mean job creators.

The Republicans have many plans

Even their amen corner (aka The Wall Street Journal editorial page) says the trick is to settle on one

An ObamaCare Plan Beats No Plan

In recent months the GOP has made more intellectual progress on health care than any period since ObamaCare passed. The question is whether the GOP can cohere around a reform alternative before the High Court rules in June, or repeat its recent dysfunction....

Mr. Obama—and Hillary Clinton—will have a field day denouncing a do-nothing GOP strategy, and Republican Governors will eventually fold. The GOP needs to stand on policy ground that is politically defensible.

FWIW I think Kennedy or Roberts will provide a fifth vote to uphold the legality exchanges run by the Feds rather than a State

hi Big Bad Dan I was being a little sarcastic about my post but would like to see the Repubs and Dems hash out a plan for health care plan that good for all. an efficient plan to cover all that is fair to all and cuts out all the waste.

if you have insurance heath care providers charge you one rate but if you have a history with a health care provider and you're between insurance coverage they'll charge you a lower rate.

nothing is free but lets cut out the over charges and the middle people in health care to make a health care system that efficient and good for all. pipe dream maybe?

Good luck cutting out the waste - anytime someone tries to reduce payments going to medically unnecessary treatments or meds they get beat up for "rationing health care" - the system is based on everyone getting their cut of the pie, which means rather than contain costs you just keep baking bigger pies

mmm I like pies,

didn't write anything about medically unnecessary treatments but I guess you have to stay a step ahead of me.

I know, maybe lets start out with cost efficiency and then work from there?
