Not only would I say a political forum shouldn't happen, I'd even go so far as to say that politically-based posts should be disallowed, just because of the fact that they devolve into heated arguments 90%+ of the time. Even when one tries to be civil (left or right, no finger pointing here), the other side, like clockwork, begins ranting, insulting, or repeating himself/herself. In my experience, at least, little good comes from online political discussion.

Nobody's minds get changed, nobody sees the other side, and it seems like nobody is willing to have civil discussion when politics are brought up. Why not eliminate the problem and prevent it from pouring out into the other, generally friendlier topics? This forum is one of the most friendly I've been on, and I would like to see it stay that way.

i'd say no as well, I think it's fine the way it is.

Although in the event that you do create a politics forum. I'd like a mandatory "ALL CAPS" rule that would declare that the poster who uses the most sentences in "ALL CAPS" would win the argument. It would be just like watching political arguments on TV.

I originally was't opposed, but after reading some of your posts I have to agree with the majority as well. Maybe a political forum isn't right for this board. I kind of like the mix of discussions in the locker room as it right now. It's a good mix of Funny/Serious/Leisure with videos, political discussions and offseason games. Speaking of offseason games, a member asked me earlier this week if the games would remain during the season.

The answer is yes. I'm not going to close down the thread just because the season is here. I may even make some more. Anything to keep things fun as well as serious. I spent a lot of time at a forum that I believe to be one of the better Steelers forums on the internet, Steelers Xtreme, and I absolutely love the balance of fun/seriousness and I believe that's something we should try and achieve here. Make things fun for all of us, and maintain the serious discussion at the same time without disrupting either category. I'm loving the way it's going.

It taints how others are seen by posters. Some of us could barely get along now. and that's only talking about football! I've seen it happen before. You have such a great message board here, and I don't want to lose the escape from real life that this board is to me. I know that sounds selfish....yeah, that is selfish, but I think it's in everyone's best interests.

I come here to laugh and talk about Steelers football. The political shit is an unavoidable reality of daily life. I come here to forget that.
So much this! Politics is starting to ruin another board for me that I call home. You wanna piss off a republican? Tell them you're a libertarian and that Mittens is a Rhino. All hell breaks loose.

Mittens!

I just find that so hilarious. I don't even know why. I just crack up every time I hear that.
