Quote:
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Dennis Pitta will miss the 2013 season after undergoing hip surgery Saturday.
Pitta dislocated his hip on the third day of camp. It's a huge downgrade to Baltimore's offense, and means plodding in-line TE Ed Dickson will be forced into an full-time role. Torrey Smith is the Ravens' only current viable receiver. An ascending "flex/move" tight end,

Pitta was highly likely to lead Baltimore in receptions this season as essentially the team's in-house replacement for Anquan Boldin.

Because Pitta did practice early in camp, he's not a candidate for PUP. The Ravens could place Pitta on injured reserve/designated for return in hopes of a late-year comeback. Like Jeremy Maclin -- the Eagles' wideout who was also lost for the season Saturday -- Pitta was entering a contract year.

I'm all broken up about Pitta being lost for the season.

In all seriousness, that does suck. Looks like they have Visanthe Shiancoe there to pick up whatever he can for Baltimore. He's no Dennis Pitta, but he's not an awful TE in his own right.

Trading Boldin and Flacco losing his favorite receiver in Pitta won't be helping them, they have a motley crew of unproven WR's after them.

Browns OL Ryan Miller hospitalized after being knocked unconscious at practice injury Saturday

Second-year Browns offensive lineman Ryan Miller was injured and down on the field for nearly 10 minutes Saturday afternoon at the team's fieldhouse, Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

Miller, drafted in the fifth round in 2012 out of Colorado, was immobilized on a board and then carted to the ambulance. The team did not give his identity until his family was notified.

Teammates huddled around Miller, took a knee and prayed. The music heard during drills ceased.

The injury occurred during individual drills. Practice was held inside and closed to the public because of rain. It was supposed to be the first practice in full pads, but was conducted in shoulder pads instead.

About 10 minutes after Miller was transported to a local hospital, a team spokesman said he was awake, alert and moving all four extremities.

Chargers lose ILB Jonas Mouton (ACL) for year

Chargers ILB Jonas Mouton is out for the season after tearing his right ACL on the first day of training camp.

A 2011 second-round pick, Mouton missed his rookie season with a shoulder injury and then earned just five snaps last year. His third campaign is over before it starts
