Default Is Willie P. the man?

I've seen this thrown about in other threads, so I thought I'd give Willie his own thread and see what the best fans in football think. Can Willie Parker carry the load in short yardage situations as well as on a "down to down" basis? If the Steelers should decide to make him the featured back come game day can he do it?

I think he can be because his speed... he can bounce things to the outside if needed and is small and quick enoughto get through some of the holes. It is not like he is a whimp, he has some power, but sometimes we will need that bruiser back and i think that is where Kuhn will come into play.

this is the year he's gonna prove to everyone he's the real deal.. I guarantee he's gonna be one of our if not the biggest threat on the team.. Even though he had little to show for Friday night.. he just moved so frickin fast and his reads were spot on.. He'll be breakin a few big ones this year no doubt about it..

I think WP can get it done for sure... but it would be nice if Duce could get his act together and take that short-yardage back role.

I think Duce will get his act together as soon as the o-line does. It has been said he is saving himself for the season to start.

I think that Willie can carry the full load. Although I would limit his short yardage carries. Why take a beating when we have some bigger backs on the team. Willie gives you the option to have a nice swing pass on the goal line, in certain situations. Also bringing in a short yardage specialist like Haynes or whomever wins the job, when you bring in a player just for these goal line type plays , the defense keys on this player. This is when Ben fakes the hand off, and dumps the ball to Heath Miller. I believe you have an edge bringing a player in off the bench.

They'll definitely have to limit his short yardage carries or he'll take alot more wear and tear on those knees. I hope that Pittsburgh can utilize him with the screen pass as this would definitely play to his strong points.

I have been taking Fast Willie as my # 2 RB ( thats right, # 2 ) in all of my fantasy leagues. he is always available when is my turn on that second turn and i keep sitting and waiting for him to be there and he always has been. I am certain he is gonna have a huge year !!

Talking Re: Is Willie P. the man?

I hope he comes through for you Midnight, but I must say he's not on my fantasy football radar right now. He's great at busting off big plays, it's just that endzone thing this year that scares me away from him. But then again someone in one of my leagues gambled early on him last year and it paid off for them, so it may very well work for you this year.

Well considering Coach is gonna keep him in for more red zone plays, leads me to believe he will get more opportunities to rush the ball inside the 10 but he also will be staying in on the field on those little screens.. I think he is a great # 2 RB to have !!
