The Steelers have always played the game with a "Hit now, ask questions later" attitude. You need guys like Thomas around. James Harrison became legendary for doing just that.

Do you need to play smart? Absolutely.

Do you need to play the game with a ferocity and toughness that can make other teams fear you? Yes, if you want to win.

Football was designed to be won by the more physical team. I know they are trying to legislate it out of the game, but it is built into the game, and at its' core, games are decided by the more physical team. Hitting is a large part of that.

agree 100%, last year was proof that physical play is still here to stay despite rule changes. ravens and 49ers were probably the most physical teams from each conference and both were in the bowl. then the tougher squad out of the two won. as much as i hate to give the ravens props, i gotta be honest.

Somebody's gotta fill the James Harrison "random fine for playing physical" void.

I hope so, but it's promising to hear that this kid is smart and wants to learn as much as he can. I had fears that this guy would become the next tyrone carter, but he has the smarts that carter lacked (and seems to be more athletically gifted)
