Default Don't wash your car in California

Under New Law Homeowners May Face 6 Years In Prison And Fines Of $100,000 Dollars A Day For Washing Car In Driveway

California’s latest experiment in faith-based policymaking is being unleashed today on the San Diego public, as regional water-quality officials begin hearings on new regulations that seem crafted to turn most owners of a car, house or dog into criminals within a decade or so. We wish we were exaggerating.

Under the draft rules, ordinary homeowners may face six years in prison and fines of $100,000 a day if they are deemed serial offenders of such new crimes as allowing sprinklers to hit the pavement, washing a car in the driveway, or, conceivably, failing to pick up dog poop promptly from their own backyards, let alone the sidewalk.

Cities throughout San Diego, south Orange and southwest Riverside counties must enforce the law, and set up 24-hour hot lines for people to report violations by their neighbors.

The new regulations even apply to firefighters, who would be forced to somehow capture and scrub the water running down the street from fire hoses and burning buildings, although the bureaucrats promise wiggle room for “emergency situations.” We’re at a loss to imagine the fire that doesn’t present an emergency situation, but we’re sure California’s army of environmental lawyers will be glad to help cities figure that out in court.

Could be worse

Dad asks son to hold beer, kicked out of Arizona Cardinals game

Just after the opening kickoff of the Arizona Cardinals' preseason game against the Dallas Cowboys on Saturday, Cardinals season ticket holder John Coulter wanted to take a picture. He says he asked his 15-year-old son to hold his beer cup while he did so.

Seconds later, two undercover officers with the Arizona Department of Liquor Licenses and Control approached him. Coulter says they told him that what he did was illegal and that he could be arrested for it. In the end, officers escorted the father and son out of the University of Phoenix Stadium.

Officials say Coulter is lucky he was able to walk away from the situation.

"Providing alcohol to an underage person or an underage person in possession of alcohol is a Class 1 misdemeanor," said Sgt. Wesley Kuhl of the Arizona Department of Liquor License and Control. "The consequences could be up to, and this is a maximum, of two years in jail, $2,500 fine and three years probation
."

I know if I lived in Arizona this report would make me feel much safer

If those cops ever want to move on to new employment they have the perfect attitude to work at the airport screening passengers for TSA

My wife briefly worked for TSA at Orlando Int'l and was appalled at how many employees there are on some sort of power trip.

Lot of cop wannabes at TSA - just remain silent and keep your head bowed so they do not cause you to miss your flight

water rationing has been a part of every day life for years here in the southwest.

you can thank your buddies bush and mccain for that!

if you got your way and had them elected you would be rationing water in florida as well. gotta fill those privitized prisons and make that easy gubmint fine money.

nice try though.

here the fuck you go

City of San Diego

http://www.sandiego.gov/water/conser...ibitions.shtml

•Customers cannot use a running hose to wash down sidewalks, driveways, parking areas, tennis courts, patios or other paved areas, except to alleviate immediate safety or sanitation hazards, unless that hose is connected to a water efficient device such as a commercial water broom.

•Vehicles may only be washed at a commercial car wash or by using a hose with an automatic shutoff nozzle or with a hand-held water container.

So washing your car is fine with this

They just don't want you to leave it running freely down the drive as you do something else.

I guess the truth didn't make a good headline.
